Week 2 started off with a bang.  In Prof. McNamer's area C a "fish dish" was found which can be seen in situ at the bottom left.  It seems that its not known why the dish is named a "fish dish", except that maybe the indentation in the middle may be for the juices of the fish.  The 2nd find (pic in middle) is of a semi-precious stone; a black cylinder, polished on both sides.  Prof. Arav doesn't know what material its made of.  We'll have to have a geologist look at it.  The 3rd find (on the right) is of an iron sickle of the kind that might be used to prune trees.  Wow, this sure is the find of the week.

Work continued in chamber 1 & the iron age street extending northward towards Damascus. A northern portion of the iron age street was uncovered & the paving stones were cleaned.  Its not clear in which direction the street continues; possibly swinging somewhat eastward.  See a pic of it below right.

Because of technical problems no more information is available for the rest of the week.  I hope that the week 3 update will also contain information concerning week 2.  Sorry.
